In addition to the three representatives appointed by the town of Hämeenlinna, the headmaster of the Wetterhoff institute and the director of the Foundation are also members of the Board of the Foundation. The purpose of the Foundation is to continue to promote "handicrafts skills in Finland" – a wish expressed by Fredrika Wetterhoff in her will. Today, the Foundation is a separate entity independent from the Wetterhoff institute. The Foundation's aim is to identify new methods and products in terms of handicrafts, which better correspond to today’s mindset.
