Wetterhoff provides training and education for future professionals and experts in interior and clothing design. Students majoring in design specialise in one of the following fields: footwear, glass and ceramics, textiles design, clothing, knitwear and leather goods. Graduates from the Design option usually find employment in design, product development, manufacturing, marketing and customer services within the industrial, business or educational sectors, or become self-employed entrepreneurs.
DEGREE PROGRAMME IN DESIGN
Product design option
Degree: Designer
Scope: 160 credits, duration: 4 years
The Product design option provides students with the skills required for employment in designing utility items, machinery and equipment with industrial companies and public entities and also for self-employment. Education in Product design is based on user-driven design and visual design and communications supporting product design and creation of corporate images. The Product design option forms a joint programme together with the Product development option.

Degree: Polytechnic degree in craft and design
Scope: 160 credits, duration: 4 years
The Degree programme in craft and recreation provides education for instructors of activities requiring handicrafts and manual skills as well as trainers and planners of such activities. Leading crafts and recreational activities includes planning and leading different kinds of activities and events for people who volunteer to participate in order to learn or promote their functional capacity. Activities include various forms of arts and crafts, creative expression, theatre, games and role-play, camping and other forms of exercise. The activities usually have either pedagogic or therapeutic objectives.

CRAFTS AND DESIGN
Study programme in textiles and clothing design and productionQualification:
ArtisanScope: 120 credits, duration: 3 years
The vocational qualification in crafts and design provides knowledge and skills to work in demanding production tasks requiring good manual skills and dexterity as well as the knowledge of different cultures, styles, materials and colours. There are two study options within the study programme in textiles and clothing design and production: textiles and clothing design. Artisans are usually employed in different manufacturing, repair, maintenance, service or instruction tasks in companies or as self-employed entrepreneurs.
CRAFTS AND DESIGN
Study programme in environmental design and construction
Qualification: Artisan (glass)
Scope: 120 credits, duration: 3 years
Training for artisans specialising in glass focuses on practical studies related to glass-making and aims to provide students with basic skills as glassblowers. In addition, students learn special glassblowing techniques and study different methods of producing glass, the characteristics of glass as a material, basic knowledge and skills of after-treatment as well as culture and art studies. Upon completion of training as an artisan specialising in glass, students are qualified to work in the glass industry or as self-employed entrepreneurs. The training also provides eligibility for further studies.
CLOTHING
Study programme in dressmaking
Qualification: Dressmaker
Scope: 120 credits, duration: 3 years
The study programme in dressmaking provides students with the ability to perform a variety of tasks within the clothing industry. Upon completion of their studies, students can find employment in, for example, dressmakers' workshops, as sewers in companies specialising in serial production, or in customer service positions at clothes and textiles stores. Studies focus on the following areas: knowledge of different materials, product design, patterning and cutting, design and fitting as well as sewing. In addition, students can specialise in ball dresses, men's clothing, leather goods, entrepreneurship or style counselling. The training provides students with a solid foundation for continuing their studies at polytechnic level, for example.
CLOTHING
Study programme in accessories production
Qualification: Milliner
Scope: 120 credits, duration: 3 years
Students on the study programme in accessories production learn how to design and make hats and other accessories. Training focuses on knowledge of materials and on the ability to process different techniques related to different materials. The aim is to provide students with a solid foundation for designing accessories. Upon completion of their studies, milliners are often employed in companies manufacturing accessories and other types of clothing, in theatre costume departments or as self-employed entrepreneurs.
